Hand-drawn, Edited Using Illustrator & Photoshop

All of the art you see on my tees are original. Sometimes I use inspiration from photos I take in the park (Big Al!!) and others are hand-drawn based on other research (The Cool Cats!). You can see below some of the work put into Big Al from a photo - using an old retro tshirt as inspiration for color themes, styles, etc., I shaded him in using a variety of illustrator brushes purchased from Retro Supply Co, In addition, I use some images purchased from The Vector Lab! Any stock image used has been purchased with full licensing that allows me to use for merchandise and apparel.

Above you can see the sketch that I created over the photo of Big Al from the parks. I used inspiration from an old thrifted tee that I found. I used it to get an idea of brush strokes, shading, and color scheme (although in the end the color scheme was scrapped and recreated...alas the process of an artist). After getting the right shading (there were actually three different Illustrator files, each scrapped because I hated how it turned out!), I overlaid it back over the photo to alter his face a bit to be more "cartoonish". I also exaggerated some of his features including the hat.

And then, just to torture myself even more, I decided I also wanted a version that could be printed on a dark color tshirt, so I redrew it and inverted all of the colors.

I'm extremely cognizant of the trademarking from the awesome company that I take inspiration from! I would never want to infringe upon their greatness! Yes, I buy their merch too! (I have the COOLEST "I'll Be Your Minnie" tee that matches my husband's from our honeymoon in 2009. It's LEGIT vintage now and faded....)

So I try to be extremely careful with all of my art. I have gone through extensive trademark research to ensure I'm not using the trademarked titles OR images of characters in movies, etc. (In fact, I had a few at the beginning before I became serious and they have been removed because I want to be extremely careful!)
